How did Jamaica achieve Independence?

1.       Distinguish between dependent and independent countries in the Caribbean.

2.       Name the major personalities involved in the independence movement in Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti.

CONTENT SUMMARY
Haiti and Cuba both fought for their independence from their colonial masters by violent means, whereas Jamaica achieved independence  from Great Britain peacefully through negotiations.

Please turn to page 42 of your Social Studies text. I want you to examine the table that summarizes when some of our Caribbean neighbours gained independence and the countries they were colonies of. 

I need you to examine the date of independence for the Haitians and the Cubans, noting carefully who they were colonized by and the road they took in gaining independence.

Do the research and make your notes in a table format for presentation.
