CONTENT SUMMARY
Haiti and Cuba both fought for their independence from their colonial masters by violent means, whereas Jamaica achieved independence  from Great Britain peacefully through negotiations.




















Grand Gala featuring hundreds of performers from across Jamaica, is held at the National Stadium in Kingston on Independence Day. This event is normally carried live on television so all Jamaicans can be included. There are sometimes float parades, especially in Kingston. The list of National Honours which will be handed out on Heroes Day in October, is published on Independence Day.
People normally dress in the Jamaican colours. (black, green, gold) or they may choose to wear bandana material. The national colours are also use to decorate  the festival venues as well as government offices and business premises.
