During the 19th century, the planters were faced with a
labour crisis. The slaves had been freed and there were no labourers to work
the plantations. The freed slaves no longer wanted to work on the plantation. The
planters had to seek help from the New World. Soon the labour crisis was
solved by the coming of the indentured servants. |
